February 29 and March 10 2024

This study tour will help students to develop a deeper understanding of the culture and art, political history and customs of both Germany and Austria. Students learn to understand how historical and cultural memory is expressed through the urban landscape and how Germany and Austria have dealt with their difficult pasts in their memorials and public spaces. Students are exposed to Germanic history and questions of political identity. During the first half of the Spring semester 2024. we will meet as a class to learn, discuss and prepare for the program followed by the study tour to Germany and Austria. Students are also to learn and feel confident to prepare for international travel.
