Campus Life
Queen's University is located in the heart of Belfast, Northern Ireland's capital city - a bustling, cosmopolitan city boasting a vibrant social life and rich cultural heritage.

The University campus is one of the best-equipped in Europe and includes everything you need, from nightclubs to sporting facilities, restaurants and our own art house cinema – all within walking distance from student accommodation – to complete your life-changing experience at Queen’s. Click on the links below to find out more about our wide range of student facilities.

With more than 17,000 students and 3,500 staff, it is a dynamic and diverse institution, a magnet for inward investment, a patron of the arts and a global player in areas ranging from cancer studies to sustainability, and from pharmaceuticals to creative writing.

Queen's is currently investing over £200 million in students, staff and facilities. Our distinctive campus is further enhanced by the new landmark McClay library, redevelopment of the Elms student village, and major refurbishment of the Physical Education Centre and the Students' Union.  Academic developments range from a substantial expansion in Medicine to new postgraduate courses in Governance and Sustainable Development, from the Centre for Cancer Research and Cell Biology to the Sonic Arts Research Centre, and from the Seamus Heaney Centre for Poetry to novel approaches to "green technology".Accommodation

International students are given priority for a place in University accommodation for at least their first year at Queen’s. Elms Student Village and other student houses are located within easy walking distance of the University in a pleasant residential area.

All rooms are single study bedrooms and self-catered, which means that students share kitchen facilities and make their own meals. Rooms are either ensuite (with a private shower room) or standard (with a washbasin and students share bathroom facilities).  Read more

From experience, we know that some students have more specific requirements and therefore we have limited rooms in our accommodation, which offer a choice of three lifestyle options:

Single Sex Accommodation - living with either only male or only female students on the same floor or house.
No Alcohol Accommodation - alcohol cannot be consumed by you or your guests anywhere in the house, floor or apartment.
Quiet Living Accommodation - living with other students who prefer a quieter, more study-focused environment. There is live-in support from our team of Community Youth Workers and Residential Assistants, whose role it is to help students deal with transition issues such as settling in, making friends, managing money and sharing communal living space. University is about more than academic achievement. It offers wonderful opportunities to make new friends, meet new challenges and become involved in new activities.Studying at Queen's
