Students interested in this program must first receive permission to participate from the program leader.

Are you interested in learning more about how to work well with others who are different from yourself?  Health-related employers indicate that finding graduates who have strong collaboration skills is a top priority.  This experiential course to the beautiful beaches of South Africa will help you become a global citizen, develop intercultural competence, enhance your abilities to work in health-related fields with diverse clients and patients and learn from some of the best exercise, nutrition, and health professionals/researchers.  In Port Elizabeth and Cape Town you will participate in intercultural activities before and during the education abroad.  Cultural immersion activities while abroad will include interactions with fellow students in allied health disciplines, exposure to alternative methods to promote exercise, nutrition and wellness opportunities, volunteer opportunities in the townships, and education on the rich history of apartheid and racial injustices in South Africa.
