ABOUT HAAGA-HELIA UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES
  • Haaga-Helia has around 11,000 students and over 650 employees who base their activities on highly advanced national and international expertise.
  • Haaga-Helia is a strongly business-orientated university of applied sciences in Finland. Through education, research and development, they prepare professionals for business and services. Their focus is on cooperation, entrepreneurship, innovation, and internationality.
  • The university is part of the Finnish public educational system. It is privately run but steered and co-founded by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture.
  • Its fields of education include business, tourism, hotel, and restaurant management, journalism, business service solutions, information technology, and sports and leisure management.
  • It is one of Finland's largest business polytechnics.

ABOUT FINLAND
  • Finland is a member of the European Union and enjoys top rankings worldwide in surveys of competitiveness, quality of education and sustainable development. Finland is not only known for its spectacular nature and four distinct seasons, but is famous for its production and export of high technology.
  • Finland's climate is comparatively mild for the high latitude. During the winter, the average temperature ranges from 7-12F, while summer mean temperatures range from 55-65F.
  • The country is famous for being heavy coffee-drinkers. The average Finn will consume as much as 12 kilos of coffee annually.
  • There are approximately 2.2 million saunas in Finland. There are more saunas in Finland than cars - even Burger King in Helsinki has a sauna.
  • During the winter, you can see the Northern Lights, and also experience the Polar night in the Northern parts of the country - there is a resort where you can sleep in a glass igloo and watch the northern lights.
