January 11 - April 1, 2016 (12-weeks)
Classes begin on a Monday and end on a Friday. Plan to arrive the Sunday before classes begin and leave the Saturday after classes end.
Program fee includes: Pick-up and return transfer from/to San Jose airport; Transportation to accommodation; All instruction in Costa Rica; All REQUIRED books and class materials (optional books and materials might also be available which students can choose to purchase for an additional cost); Homestay accommodation; 1/2 meals; Four 1-day trips to regional sites of interest; One cultural activity/visit in program location per week; All special school activities; On-site staff.
The budget above is an estimate and does not include: -- University tuition and fees which will be charged at the appropriate rate to your eServices account once you register for the MSU Spanish department international program classes determined with the Chair of the Spanish department -- Individual spending money (movies, souvenirs, personal travel, etc.)
DEPOSIT PAYMENT: A non-refundable deposit of $400 must be made by October 30th for the Spring 2016 program, payable either through eServices or at the Cashier's Office. Full program fee payment is due prior to departure (less the amount covered by financial aid, which will be disbursed one-week after the start of spring semester classes at MSU).
MISC. EXPENSES: Misc. expenses include, but are not limited to: personal expenses, laundry and misc. supplies, copies, postage, haircut, toiletries, basic housing set-up, personal travel, etc.
Meals: The "Spanish Program Fee" includes dinner only.
Housing: It is the policy of our Spanish Study Abroad programs that participants reside in local homes. These are fine middle-class homes (board and shared room; single rooms are available at additional cost) that are selected and supervised by the host institutions. Apartments, hotels, hostels, etc. are not options.
