  YOUR ASA EXPERIENCE
You will receive individualized support from ASA’s advisors and staff throughout your program application process, while you are abroad, and when you return.

Before you depart we will work with you and the staff at your home institution to help you prepare for your time abroad by giving you personal access to our Student Success program, which will help you maximize your experience in your host country. You will also receive a detailed pre-departure orientation guide which will help you know what to pack, what to expect when you arrive, and how to stay safe while abroad.

Once you arrive in Lima you will participate in our onsite orientation with the other ASA students in your group. ASA’s site director will introduce you to your host city and culture through orientation and multiple events during the program. Our intentionally small group sizes allow ASA’s students to get to know one another and are an aspect of our programs for which our alumni consistently express their appreciation. You will have opportunities to meet other students and lots of new people through your classes, social events and optional language partners.

ASA programs include excursions, volunteer opportunities, housing, meals, academic credits, transcripts, mobile phones, airport pick-up on arrival, medical insurance and more! Contact ASA or your advisor to learn about ASA’s Price Guarantee for all of our programs.
 COURSES
Learn Spanish in the coastal capital of Peru. Explore the streets where architecture varies from glass skyscrapers to Spanish baroque and neoclassical. Did you know that Lima is host to one-third of Peru’s entire population and is one of the largest financial hubs in Latin America? With so much to explore from beaches, restaurants, museums and sports there is so much to do outside of the classroom! You will study at Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola (USIL) a modern bilingual university which graduates young entrepreneurs who contribute to the sustainable development of Peru, while embracing a multicultural learning community.

This program is for students at all levels of Spanish language. You will study Spanish grammar and conversation as well as Peruvian culture. Electives are taught in English or Spanish. Your elective classes are integrated with local Peruvian students, as USIL students are required to take a percentage of their degree courses in English. Electives are offered in a number of different subject areas including: Art and Design, Psychology, Business, Gastronomy, Restaurant & Tourism Management, and Humanities. Language level placement exams will be taken at the beginning of the program.

A full list of classes for this program can be found on the ASA website through the link at the top of this page.
